StartFragment1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.EndFragment
This is just a portion of this wonderful passage of Scripture that shows just how all-knowing our God is. How powerful He is. And how caring He is.
Even before we came to be in this world, He knew everything that we would do- every step, every move, every thought, every word, every choice that we would ever make. We can't run from His hand of protection, His all-knowingness, or His love.
In the book of Jonah, Jonah runs from God, attempting to hide from what God has commanded him to do. But all along, the Lord was watching Jonah's every move and knew his plans and thoughts. This is just one of the many reminders in Scripture that we cannot escape God, we can't run from Him, and we can't hide from Him.
