This world is a dark place. Just look around and you will see death, sin, darkness, and evil. But we aren't lost in this terrible darkness; no, God sent His son, Jesus, as a light, a hope, to the world. When He came to earth, taking the form of a human, He lived a perfect, blameless life. But Jesus didn't just come to show us the right way to live. He sacrificed His own life on the cross, which was a death specifically for the worst criminals, and paid for all of our many, many, many, many sins. When He did this, He showed His great, unconditional, and unseparable love for us. But the story doesn't end there. He miraculously rose from the dead, conquering death and darkness. John 1"5 says, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." Jesus is this light. He will never be conquered by the evil darkness of Satan. Because of this fact, we have hope in knowing that Jesus has already overcoming Satan and sin and we are no longer slaves to our sin. By trusting the Lord to help us flee from sinful temptations, we are freed from the bondages of sin. Romans 6:6- "For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin."

So let us give thanks to the Light of the World who gives us hope in things we cannot see (2 Cor. 4:18) and freedom from sin.
