StartFragmentPicture this- you're crossing a busy highway as the traffic is stopped due to a red light. But suddenly, the light turns green while you're in the middle of the street and a car is speeding straight towards you. At the last minute, a man pushes you out of the way to safety, but he is hit by the oncoming car. But you continue walking as if nothing happened. You don't go see the man in the hospital, you don't thank him, and you never mention the incident to anyone- ever. What kind of person would you be if you never acknowledged someone sacrificing their own self in your place? Unfortunately, you'd be like the stereotype Christian. The no-one-needs-to-know-what-Jesus-did-for-me Christian. Today's Christian often blends into the crowd, not standing up for wrongdoings, their faith, or even the Savior of the World. But Jesus died for us, so why are we ashamed of Him? I don't know about you, but I'm not okay with pretending that Jesus never died for me. I think it's time for me, and you, to stand up for Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:8 says, "so never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. Skip to verse 10, "He [Jesus] broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News." See, the only way anyone can truly have life is through the Good News- that Jesus saved us from eternal death. In 2 Timothy 1, Paul goes to share that He is not ashamed of being in prison for Christ. If Paul can go to jail for the Lord, I think we can tell our friends about Him! And this isn't just some crazy idea of Paul's to tell the world about the Lord. Matthew 28:19- "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," says Jesus. Jesus says go, unashamedly and tell the world of what the Lord Almighty has done for you.
