Jesus: The Rejected Cornerstone

Continuing our study on Jesus, we are moving on to our second part of the study from John 1.
John 1:10-11: He came into the very world He created, but the world didn't recognize Him. He came to His own people, and even they rejected Him.
Matthew 21:42: Then Jesus asked them, "Didn't you ever read this in the scriptures? 'The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This the Lord's doing, and it is wonderful to see.' "
Jesus was rejected, beaten, and killed by the very people He came to save. He is the rejected cornerstone spoken of in Matthew 21:42. But what does that mean? When we say that Christ is the rejected cornerstone, it means two things...
1. Rejected. Jesus came into the world to save, not destroy or condemn (see John 3:17), but we turned Him away, mocked Him, and killed Him.
2. Cornerstone. A cornerstone is a block upon which an entire building is constructed. Jesus is the basis for our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the cornerstone for Christianity.
