StartFragment"Never tire of doing what is right," 2 Thessalonians 3:13. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21. I want to examine each of these verses and what they mean to Christians. First- 2 Thessalonians 3:13. If you open up your Bible to 2 Thess. 3, you will find that this chapter is talking about staying away from those who are being idle. What's so wrong with being idle? As Christians, we are called to go and spread the gospel (Mark 16:15), to live in a manner worthy of God's grace (Philippians 1:27), and to be a Christ-like example to others (2 Timothy 4:12). If we are idle in our walk with God, we get stuck in one place; not growing in our faith and not sharing the wonderful news of the gospel as we are called to do. When our walk with God gets "stagnant", we tend to turn back to the desires of the flesh. Now that we understand the context of this verse, we can understand what is meant by "never tire of doing what is right" on a deeper level. Paul (the author of this book of the Bible) is telling us to continue doing what is right and to stay away from the idleness that is so tempting. Second- Matthew 7:21. You might be wondering how this verse applies to the topic of Doing What is Right. Well, read the verse again, "“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." By doing what is right in God's eyes (doing His will), we will be accepted in Heaven. If we choose not to follow God's instructions for Him, He will not recognize us as His followers and we will be turned away from the eternal paradise of Heaven. But by doing good, we will not just be accepted into Heaven... read Galatians 6:9. Third- Galatians 6:9. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." If you start to wonder, "What is the point of living in a way that pleases God?", take a look at Galatians 6:9. When we do good to please God, we will be accepted into heaven and receive rewards from God (reap a harvest). So, sisters in Christ, let us not grow tire of doing what is right!
