StartFragmentToday was an off day for me. So many times today I just wanted to explode, but thankfully I didn't. If I had exploded and taken my anger out on others, I would now regret those words I would have spoken. Those words could have hurt others and could also ruin any Christian standard that I am trying to live up to. Yes, I can apologize for things I've said, but once those words come out, they can never be taken back. Now, you may be in the same boat as me- others have been unkind to me for so long that it seems like they don't deserved my kindness. It's true- they don't deserved our kindness. But think of it this way- we did absolutely nothing to deserve God's love, yet He gave His only son to die for us! If Jesus can die for vile sinners like us, I think you and I can speak kindly to our enemies. Here are some scriptures to help if you're struggling with speaking kindly: Ephesians 4:32- "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." If we claim to love God, we should strive to live like He instructs us to. This means forgiving and speaking with love. Luke 6:35- "Love your enemies. Do good to them..." The Bible doesn't say "ignore your enemies" or "don't do bad to them". No- it says love your enemies. Whew! That's kinda hard! But remember, God wants to see you succeed; He is there for you to call on for help. Read John 14:26 and Hebrews 4:16. "A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself." Proverbs 11:17. Being kind to others will bring us blessings, both in heaven and on earth. On earth, others will see our kindness and see God through us, which is what Christians should strive for. In Heaven, we will be rewarded for our kindness and generosity (Matthew 16:27, Revelation 2:10). With these verses in mind, think before you speak; will my words bless or tear down? Remember, words are easily forgiven but rarely forgotten. EndFragment
