StartFragmentThese days, Christians tend to lash out without giving one thought to what they are saying and how it may make themselves look in the eyes of non-believers. If we as Christians could just have a little respect for others, I believe that our relationships with others and God could be a whole lot stronger. Today's Bible Verses: Psalm 96:9, Matthew 7:12, Exodus 20:12, Romans 13:2 Respecting God- Psalm 96:9 says, "Worship the Lord in all His holy splendor. Let the earth tremble before Him." God is holy. He is blameless, the King of Kings, praise-worthy, and glorious. He is the King of the universe and we should hold Him in the utmost respect. This means that His name is not one to throw around carelessly (Exodus 20:7). We sometimes tend to think of God as "our pal", and yes, God is our friend and someone we can go to in times of trouble, but He is more than that. He is the God of the universe who created us, so we need to treat Him with respect and give Him all of our hearts. Read Luke 10:27. Respecting Others- Matthew 7:12- Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. This is such a basic truth and so many of our world's problems would be solved if everyone would just follow the Golden Rule. Well, unfortunately, not everyone follows this rule, but we can't change them. It is our job as Christians to love and respect others, not change them. Respecting Authority- Romans 13:1 says "Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority comes from God, and those positions of authority have been placed there by God." Yes, it might be difficult to respect authority, but remember that God has placed those people in authority, so disrespecting them is disrespecting God. What about a leader who is not obedient to God's word or directly disrespects Christians? We are still told to respect them. Maybe God put them in power to teach us patience and respectfulness. But what about parents? Maybe your parents are not a great example or maybe your relationship with them is full of tension. God still has placed them in authority over you for a reason. Read Exodus 20:12.EndFragment
